TTFN – Ta Ta For Now

The craft ladies are going on hiatus for a bit.

Hot Metal is starting up a Wednesday night group for the duration of Lent so it doesn’t look like we’ll be able to do any crafting for a bit. (at least not as an organized group, you know we’ll still be at it in our own homes)  Don’t worry, we’ll return eventually, or maybe even find a different night to get together. So until we meet blog again…..

NEW: Follow Us by Subscription

Why didn’t we think of this sooner? Well, Lauren’s new to blogging, but it’s a good thing Amy is a seasoned veteran. After seeing this on her personal blog (shameless plug: here) the light bulb finally went on.

Sign up for a “subscription”, it just means you’ll get a little email when we post a new blog. That happens about once a week. You’ll never again have to check in & be disappointed that there’s no new crafty secrets waiting for you. So glance to your right, there should be a sign up box.

What should you expect to see? Here’s a look back & a sneak peak ahead!

Christmas Past:

See the full post about making coffee cozies

Christmas Present:

These gifts were just delivered today. Want to see how this homemade paper was made? That tutorial is coming soon.

Christmas Yet To Come:

I can’t show the whole gift because it hasn’t been given yet, but some lucky person will be getting this Memory Map gift handmade with love to track our adventures.

Maybe also under Christmas yet to come will be a new camera for Lauren?

Merry Christmas!

much love,                   ~ The Craft Ladies

Gobble Gobble

This Thanksgiving Day you’re invited to join us for dinner.

Hot Metal Bridge, our home church, is hosting a free Thanksgiving meal from noon to 2pm at 2700 Jane Street (South Side, Pittsburgh). Everyone is invited & welcome, there will be plenty of food and family-friendly activities.

If you read on you’ll see how we’ve been working on centerpieces for this meal for the past 3 weeks. Some of us can’t make it to dinner because of family & travel, but we’re happy to be able to put our hands to work in some small way to serve our community & make the day beautiful. Maybe the idea of crafts as service is lost on some people, but we get it. As Mother Theresa famously said “You can do no great things, only small things with great love” and we’re big fans of Mama T. So maybe this is the smallest of the small, but we’re glad to participate.

And with much love we just want to say…

Nice to Meet You

We snapped a some shots of the ladies making cards a few weeks ago. Here we are in all our glitter & glue glory.

If you want to join these awesome chicks, we’ll be at the Beehive (14th & Carson) every Wednesday at 7:15pm.

This week we’re bringing pinecones, acorns, twigs & glass jars/vases to make centerpieces for the community Thanksgiving meal happening at Hot Metal.

Our First Post!

We all have to start somewhere…

At our first meeting Erin shared the most amazing website which may have changed my life forever… StumbleUpon. Caution: this tool will waste hours of time & only feed your addictions. Also, Erin may stalk your favorite sites. Here are a few of my favorite stumblings that you’ll probably see again some day as a completed craft:

paper_flowers

newspaper_basket

embroidered_note

snowglobe_soaps

StumbleUpon is listed in our ‘Resources’ tab. As we continue to meet & learn about new tools from eachother, we’ll add to that page for everyone’s benefit. So keep checking back.
